Development Plan
Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital presently provides a national tertiary referral service for Orthopaedic Surgery and Rheumatology.
An In-house Project Team was set up in 1998 and has been responsible for the 10 year Development Brief completed in 1999. This Project Team has met regularly to update this Brief and to present our needs to the Department of Health and Children and more recently to the Health Service Executive.
Good clinical practice and modern medical standards demands the need for continual development in Cappagh to allow the clinical expertise already available here to be better utilised. The hospital is at present preparing presentations on an extension to the Operating Theatres of two new theatres, with an updating and extension of the Central Sterilisation Service Department.
A updated and modern Isolation Ward in St. Paul's Ward is soon to be realised, and redevelopment of the Kitchens and the replacement of our drainage system are included in the future plans for the hospital.
It is essential that the hospital continue to provide a safe environment for our patients.
