The Human Resources Department provides a comprehensive HR service to managers and staff of Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital.  We continually strive to meet the needs of a dynamic and constantly changing HR and healthcare environment, and are constantly improving and developing the service we provide to meet the ever-progressive legislative changes and best practice.

Summary of Services Provided

Recruitment, Selection & Retention:

  • The HR Department is responsible for the recruitment and selection of all hospital employees other than Nursing, which is directly managed by the Nursing Administration department.

Medical Manpower Management:

  • The HR Department is responsible for the recruitment and administration of the hospital’s medical staff.  We provide an advisory and support service to management and medical staff in all aspects of Medical HR.

Industrial / Employee Relations:

  • The HR Department provides an advisory and support service to Heads of Department in relation to best practice employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of local and national agreements in relation to industrial / employee relations matters.
  • Conduct negotiations with staff representative bodies

Training & Development:

  • The HR Department assists in the continued training and personal development of Heads of Department and staff within guidelines of best practice and in line with the hospitals organisational objectives.

Human Resources Advisory Service:

  • Provision of a consultative and advisory service to Heads of Department and staff on issues, including but not limited to:
    • Hospital policies and procedures
    • Terms and conditions of employment
    • Superannuation
    • Employee Assistance Programme
