Medical Library

The Medical Library at Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital is housed in the upper level of the RCSI�s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, on the grounds of the hospital.

The earliest Journal available in the Library is the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (American), to which the Library has subscribed since 1927.

Cappagh Medical Library subscribes to the major High Impact international orthopaedic journals and has recently updated its stock of orthopaedic textbooks. The Library provides a comfortable reading room with WiFi internet access (subject to hospital regulations).

The library is funded by Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital, Cappagh Hospital Research & Development Trust and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery.

Opening Hours

Monday � Friday 09.00 � 17.00

Access is available outside these hours through the Security Guards and Senior Specialist Registrar.

Using the Library

The prime objective is to serve the information needs of the post-graduate trainees on the continuum of training.

The Library facilities are also freely available to be used by students of the orthopaedic school of nursing and other hospital staff.

We welcome academic and private researchers working in the field of medicine that may wish to visit the library during office hours, if they contact the library in advance.

Services

Borrowing

No journals or textbooks are to be removed from the Cappagh Medical Library.

WiFi

Wireless internet access has been installed in the Medical Library. Visitors may use their own laptops to search the internet while in the library contingent with Cappagh Hospital IT policy.

Please advise Cappagh I.T. Department (Extension: 410 or pager 33) to allow a member of staff to configure individual user access.
