DePuy Articular Surface Replacement (ASR) and ASR XL REMOVAL OF DEVICES FROM THE MARKET (RECALL)

Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital received notice from DePuy on Thursday the 26th August 2010 about the removal of these devices from the market. The full details of the Field Safety Notice issued by DePuy can be viewed here.

Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital are presently identifying all patients affected by this notice and will contact all affected patients over the coming days. It is important to note that there are approximately 200 patients of Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital for which this product was used.

Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital recognises our patients concern regarding this issue and would like to reassure our patients that we are doing everything possible to ensure the speediest follow up.

To facilitate this process the hospital would advise all patients that it will be making initial contact with all patients affected over the coming days and if you are not contacted by the hospital over the coming days you are not affected by this issue.

Currently the supplier of this product (DePuy) is in the process of agreeing the follow-up required. Once Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital has been informed of the follow-up required the hospital will write to all patients outlining the agreed process of review.

Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital wishes to apologise to all our patients affected for the inconvenience caused by this product recall and are committed to working with DePuy to ensure all patients are informed and reviewed as quickly as possible.
