Orthopaedic surgery focuses on injuries and diseases of your body's musculoskeletal system. This complex system includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves and allows you to move, work, and be active.

Cappagh Hospital is the major elective Orthopaedic facility in Ireland and provides elective orthopaedic services for St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Mater University Hospital, Beaumont Hospital, Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, The Children’s University Hospital Temple Street, Central Remedial Clinic, and other tertiary referrals.

The department offers a comprehensive service for elective orthopaedic surgery offering a range of simple and complex inpatient and day care procedures in ultra clean air theatres including:

  • Primary and revision hip replacement
  • Primary and revision knee replacement
  • Spinal surgery
  • Shoulder surgery
  • Hand and elbow surgery
  • Arthroscopies (key-hole surgery for joints)
  • Ligament reconstruction in the knee
  • Foot  and ankle surgery
  • Tumour resection and restoration
