Occupational Therapy
Hand Surgery
Please bring any splints or appliances in regular use by you to the Outpatient Clinic or on admission as an In-patient. Alterations can then be assessed and carried out more effectively.
Hip Surgery
If you have been issued with a hip information booklet please bring this in with you for use. It is an important reference book during your rehabilitation.
If possible, please arrange a suitable chair for your immediate use at home after discharge. When seated the chair should allow:
- Hips to be higher than knees
- Back support
- Feet to be flat on floor
- Arms to be supported on armrests (dining chair may be suitable).
 |
Some temporary adjustments may be required to your toilet at home. It may be possible for you to make enquiries with your local nurse, health centre or Community Occupational Therapist prior to admission.
Some self-care equipment is available for purchase (prices available on request).
The Occupational Therapist will discuss your requirements in detail during your stay in the hospital.
