Quality

The role of the Quality Department is to support and direct other departments in Quality matters to ensure compliance with CHKS Accreditation and all other national and international standards applicable to the hospital.

Summary of Services Provided

  • Implementation of the following standards:
    • CHKS Accreditation Standards
    • HIQA National Standards for the Prevention & Control of Healthcare Associated Infections (Including Hygiene Services Standards)
    • NHO Healthcare Records Management Code of Practice
    • NHO Discharge Planning Code of Practice
    • NHO Decontamination of RIMD Code of Practice
  • Co-ordination and Maintenance of the Hospital Document Control System ensuring that current policies, procedures, forms, check-sheets etc which are based on evidence based best practice are available to all staff.
  • Co-ordination of the Hospital Audit Programme including Quality Audits, Hygiene Audits, Medical Record Audits etc to ensure that the Hospital is in compliance with all CHKS Accreditation and National & International Standards applicable to the hospital.
  • Assessment of Patient Satisfaction through questionnaires etc and implementation of actions where required.
  • Co-ordination of Continual Improvement Activities throughout the hospital and monitoring, review and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Provision of support, direction and focus with respect to quality for all activities undertaken at the hospital.
  • Preparation of Annual Quality, Clinical Quality & Annual Hygiene Reports.
  • Management of the Preventative Maintenance Program for Hospital Equipment.
  • Promotion of Quality throughout the hospital through training in quality related issues, notification of changes or updates in best quality practices and participation on hospital committees.
