Social Work
The Social Work Department provides support and advice for patients and their families who experience social or emotional problems that may impact on their recovery from orthopaedic surgery.
Summary of Services Provided
- Advice and support for patients whose social/emotional problems may be of concern to them or their families in relation to their admission for orthopaedic surgery.
- Assessment and discharge planning for inpatients.
- Advice in relation to how to access social welfare and health benefits and entitlements.
You may be referred to the medical social worker by your consultant or other hospital staff members. You or your family may also contact the Medical Social Work Department by phone and we can make an appointment to meet with you if appropriate.

Monday – Thursday: 9am – 5.30pm
Friday: 9am - 5pm
