Social Worker

The Social Worker in the hospital provides the following confidential services:
  • Professional counselling for anyone whose social/emotional problems may be of concern to themselves or to their families in relation to their admission for orthopaedic surgery.
  • Assessment and advice for patients and their families in relation to hospitalisation and discharge. This includes advice on local community care services, arrangement of further rehabilitation as medically necessary, and general support for the patient.
  • Information on Social Welfare and Health benefits and entitlements.
These services are available to all patients.

In some cases your Consultant or other hospital staff will refer you to the Social Worker.

You are also welcome to call to the Social Worker’s office, or you may ask reception or the ward staff to contact the Social Worker for you.
